BRAKE COOLING a VR4
Car: 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 twin turbo all wheel drive. 3800 lb without driver. Brakes: Porsche Big Reds. They come in a kit for $1400, including BFG SS lines, mounting brackets, Grade 8 military hardware and a set of pads. Pads: Hawk Blues. On my car, they last 2+ event weekends. Results: Works very well, but still fades if used hard. Requires air ducting and water cooling.
Water injection: I tee a 1/4 in. hose into the windshield washer hoses, and pull the connector on the wiper motor. The hoses run to each front rotor. No sprayer is used: just a stream of water directly onto the rotor from about an inch away. Any closer, the rubber melts. When I need water, I toggle the windshield washer lever and squirt water onto the rotors.
